The Zlín Region in Brussels has presented the candidature for participating to the Open Days 2010 in the team named “Baltic Adriatic Corridor Regions”, an initiative aiming at highlighting the importance of this strategic transport project.
V4 exhibition: „Neighbours.Friends.Family“
The exhibition of young artists „Neighbours.Friends.Family“ organized by four regions of Visegrad group – Észak-Alföld from Hungary, Zlín and Olomouc from Czech Republic and Trenčín from Slovakia will take place from 4th to 29th of November 2009 in Halles Saint Géry in Brussels. More than 40 figurative paintings as well as the culture of new member states will be presented not only to the large and professional public but also to the young generation. The „Didactic package“ is prepared for teachers and secondary schools students to introduce and explain the art of young artists. This cultural project is supported by the International Visegrad Fund.
Czech Star Lights Brussels Up
Jarek Nohavica, Czech folk singer and songwriter, came to Brussels! The long-expected concert, co-organized by the office of Zlin Region in Brussels, took place on 6th October in the Theatre Saint Michel. His fans waited long for such an occasion, but the waiting was more than worth it. There was an amazing atmosphere and great emotions, loud laugh, tense silence, audience singing along and finally there was a big applause.

Special partnership with Brussels Film Festival
Film Festival Zlín is represented by a delegation including Mrs. Taťána Nersesjan, Member of the Regional Council of the Zlín Region, Mr. Tomáš Řehořek and Ms. Petra Hřebíčková, Director and main protagonist of “Changes”. The program of the evening includes the greetings by Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the EU, Mrs. Milena Vicenova, to Swedish Ambassador in Belgium, Mr. Magnus Robach, as representative of the Member State holding the EU Presidency from 1st of July on.
Film Festival Zlín at Brussels Film Festival 2009
For the 49th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth of Zlín, on the occasion of the first Semester of Czech Presidency to the EU Council, the Zlín Region in Brussels has realised a special partnership with the Brussels Film Festival. On the 30th of June 2009, the Film Festival Zlín will be the special guest of the official program of the Brussels Film Festival with the presentation of one of the movies of this year's selection, "Changes", a Czech-Italian coproduction registered for the European Debuts' Competition.

Zlín Region in Brussels at work for the Semester of Czech Presidency at the European Union
During the Semester of Czech Presidency to the EU Council, the Zlín Region will host the meeting of European Ministries for Social Affairs. The Representative Office in Brussels has already started working on. The 11th of October 2007, the Director of the Representative Office of the Zlín Region in Brussels, Mr. Mattia Crosetto, met the European Commissioner for Social Affairs, Mr. Vladimír Špidla.
Deputy Governor of the Zlín Region, Mr. Vojtěch Jurčík, has met EC Director for TEN projects at DG Transport.
The Zlín Region needs to develop its road connections both within the Czech Republic and the Central Europe: the meeting at DG Transport has created the basis for the cooperation with the European Commission in this strategic field. The 10th of October 2007, on the occasion of the Open Days Week 2007, the Representative Office of the Zlín Region in Brussels organised a bilateral meeting between the Regional delegation and the Directorate General for Transport and Energy of the Europpean Commission.

The 10th of October 2007, on the occasion of the Open Days Week 2007, the Representative Office of the Zlín Region in Brussels organised a high-level meeting between the Governor of the Region, Mr. Libor Lukáš, and the Member of the European Commission responsible for Education and Culture, Mr. Ján Figel‘. On the agenda, the cooperation between the Region and the European Commission in the cultural domain.
Website of the Zlin Region in Brussels awarded of the WEB PRIZE 2006
The website of the Representative Office of the Zlin Region in Brussels has been awarded by the international prize organised to promote internet as a tool for diffusing culture, information and business related services. Another important demonstration of the quality of the work realised in Brussels for the benefit of the Zlin Region.

The second edition of the WEB PRIZE was held in April 2007 by the international jury of Sistema Friuli in Italy. The prize wishes to promote the web has an instrument to valorise culture and business activities all around Europe.
Meeting in the frame of the OPEN DAYS 2007
On 31 January 2007, the Representative Office of the Zlín Region in Brussels attended a meeting within ERRIN where the main topics concerned the OPEN DAYS 2007. The members of the European Regions, Research and Innovation Network (ERRIN) developed the idea of creating the conglomerate in within the member states, with the possibility of other interested parties to join.
The main subject of the meeting was to discuss the possible conglomerate, which will be focused on Research and Innovation, included discussion about the theme, under which two seminars within OPEN DAYS 2007 will be organised. The meeting was held for about 2 hours and main conclusions about the realisation of the partnership within ERRIN were arranged.
Cognac, the last project of the Region in the field of innovation is approved by the
European Commission

After obtaining a positive evaluation for the RIS-Zlin and the SupPolicy Projects, the Region of Zlin has got a new financial aid from the European Commission with the VI Framework Programme for Research and Development. The "Cognac Project aims at the exchange of experiences in innovation policies notably among the New Member States of the EU.
SupPolicy, a new project proposed by the Region, obtained the support of the EU VII Framework programme for R&D
A project proposed and formulated by the Regional Representative Office in Brussels has been approved by the European Commission. With a total budget of 796.000 euro, the project will be financed with the VI Framework Programme for Research and Development. It will complete the way started with the project "RIS - Regional Innovation Strategy" already financed by the European Union.
The European Union and the rights of children: the European Commission asks for contribution from young people
On March 30, 2006, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Justice, Freedom and Security, Mr. Franco Frattini, launched the competition "The European Union and the Rights of the Child". Children and teenagers from 10 to 18 years of age are called to create a poster on children's rights within the Union. The competition aims at increasing awareness among European younger citizens about EU actions in this field.
The Zlin Region will be active partner of the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission for the Open Days Week 2006
On 23 February 2006, the Committee of the Regions announced the list of the partnerships admitted to Open Days 2006. The Zlin Region has been selected as member of "Regional Innovation for a Better Europe", a consortium coordinated by ALPEUREGIO South Tyrol (IT), Trentino (IT), Tyrol (AT) and including Carinthia (AT), Friuli Venezia Giulia (IT), Istria (HR), Navarra (ES), Timis County (RO), Veneto Region (IT) as well as the Olomouc Region (Czech Republic).
