Catalogue "Twenties: Generation new Europe"
The regions of the Czech Republic invited young Czech artists born after 1989 to prepare works expressing their vision about Europe and its journey from the fall of the iron curtain to the present time and ahead, another twenty years into the future. Each region has chosen one masterpiece to represent itself at the common exhibition in the seat of the European Commission – the Berlaymont building in Brussels under the patronage of Commissioners Vladimir Spidla and Jan Figel. An international jury, chaired by Mrs Katerina Batzeli, Member of the European Parliament and President of the Committee for Culture and Education, will vote for the best artist, whose masterpiece will be donated on behalf of all regional and local Czech communities to the Committee of the Regions, during an official ceremony, at the presence of its President, Mr Luc Van den Brande. This masterpiece will remain in the premises of the Committee as a tribute of the Czech regions to the 15 years of CoR’s activity in favour of the European regions.
